General Tso’s chicken is overrated. Now I have your attention!

Hi! My name’s Charlotte Mikos, I’m a junior, and my new column, Bear Bites, will be exploring all the amazing food that Harpeth Hall students enjoy at school and around town. Ever since I started my Tripadvisor account at the age of 10 (I lied about my age, of course), I’ve loved seeing how my reviews can positively (or negatively…) affect customers’ decisions. I, like most people, believe that food is something that can bring our community together as a common interest. After all, who doesn’t like to snack on a bowl of ice cream after a difficult practice or study at Starbucks with friends during exam week?

Food makes life so much more fulfilling and can, literally, give us a taste of other cultures and cuisines. But food can also be polarizing. I’ve seen with my very own eyes some intense debates regarding the current Chick Fil A/Raising Cane’s conflict, and these debates don’t always turn out pretty. That’s not what this column is about, though. I know by saying this I contradict the very controversial sentence I started this article with, but in all seriousness, I want to showcase all opinions of the food we consume at school and around town, even if my strong opinions shine a little more than others’.

Here are some enigmatic questions I’ll attempt to answer with this column:

What’s the hype for The Max’s sausage biscuits all about? Cane’s or CFA: Which chicken chain reigns supreme? Who visits the Belle Meade Starbucks more often: Harpeth Hall girls or Ensworth students?

In conclusion, follow my journey through Harpeth Hall and the greater Nashville area to learn where to find delicious snacks, which lunches are worthy of sprinting across Souby to beat the crowd, and more!
